Remembering Linda: A Kinship Leader, Volunteer, and Friend

Dear Kinship Family,

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Linda Wright’s passing on April 2, 2026. Linda was an integral part of Seventh-day Adventist Kinship, and her love and dedication will never be forgotten.

Linda and her wife Jacquie were active Kinship members for more than 25 years. There was no limit to how much Linda gave of her time to support the organization and its members. She was especially passionate about helping those who, like herself, came from very conservative backgrounds and struggled for many years with their sexual orientation, until they were finally able to reconcile all parts of their lives.

These are just a few examples of the many ways Linda gave of herself and showed her unwavering dedication. Her enthusiasm and commitment shone brightly in all she did: opening her home in Alameda to host Friday night vespers, creating spaces of warmth and belonging; offering her time and energy to Kinship communications in countless ways; and pouring her heart into co-organizing and organizing international Kinship Kampmeetings—journeys she and Jacquie made together, crossing the country in their van with joy, purpose, and deep love for the community.

Linda was a dedicated musician and a Children’s Sabbath School teacher at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in San Francisco, until the church decided that she and Jacquie should no longer serve in that role because they were a couple. She later became a member of Second Wind Church in San Francisco, and then an integral part of Church 1.0.

During their time at Church 1.0, Linda and Jacquie were married there for the second time, having previously celebrated their union during a Kinship event.

During this period, Linda was also able to reconnect with a son she had been forced by her family to place for adoption at a young age, and whom she had not known for many decades.

Linda had a huge heart. She was deeply dedicated and always gave all she could—and sometimes more. She was a talented, strong, caring, loving, and assertive person.

Her love and devotion to Jacquie were truly beautiful and unmistakable—anyone who knew them could see how deeply they belonged to one another. They were inseparable, sharing a bond filled with love, strength, and unwavering companionship.

As we grieve this profound loss, we ask the community to hold Jacquie especially close in your hearts and prayers as she mourns the passing of her beloved wife, partner, and soulmate.

Linda’s absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her love, her spirit, and the countless lives she touched will continue to live on in all of us. She will be deeply, deeply missed.

Our Kinship Family is forever grateful for Linda’s volunteering, energy, and presence in our Kinship community. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers of comfort to Jacquie and Linda’s family.
