Remembering Carolyn Wilt

Carolyn Wilt
Carolyn Wilt

We are deeply saddened to share that our dear Mama Bear, Carolyn Wilt, passed away on the morning of May 28 at her family cabin at Silver Lake, California.

For many years, Carolyn and John Wilt served together as leaders of SDA Kinship Families and Friends and as members of the Kinship Board. As a team, they offered steady love, wisdom, and care to families of LGBTQ+ loved ones. They made themselves available to parents, relatives, and friends who were struggling to understand, accept, or reconnect with their LGBTQ+ loved ones, always leading with compassion and grace.

During the pandemic, Carolyn and John helped begin the monthly Families and Friends Roundtable, creating a space where people could ask honest questions, share their stories, and find support. That gathering continues today as part of their lasting legacy.

We will share more details as they become available. A memorial service is tentatively planned for July. In the meantime, please keep John and the Wilt family in your prayers. After more than 60 years of marriage, the loss of a beloved spouse is profound. As a Kinship family, we want John to know that we are holding him close in our hearts and are here to support him in this difficult time.

The global Kinship family mourns Carolyn’s passing with deep gratitude for the love, courage, and tenderness she shared so freely. Her impact on our community, and on so many families, will not be forgotten.
