Each month I have many thoughts about what I want to share with our Kinship community. Each day something new and crazy happens in the world around us. But we can't allow ourselves to be caught up in the frenzy of power plays and conspiracies.
Wherever you are on your journey—current or former Adventist, agnostic, or atheist—we all have a hope and faith we cling to. Let your personal moral compass guide you. Our differences make us stronger. We are a community that cares for each other. We take care of each other.
There is something powerful about choosing compassion in a world that often rewards division. When we show up for one another, we create the kind of space many of us wished we had growing up. Kinship is not just an organization; it’s a living, breathing reminder that belonging is possible. Your story matters; here your voice matters; here your presence strengthens the whole.
As we move through another month together, may we continue to lead with kindness, curiosity, and courage. And may we never forget that even in uncertain times, we are never walk this journey alone.
This summer, I hope you’ll consider joining us for Kinship Kampmeeting in July in Marriottsville, Maryland. There’s something uniquely healing about spending a few days surrounded by people who understand your story without needing an explanation. Kampmeeting gives us space to breathe, reconnect, laugh, learn, and simply be ourselves.
Whether you come for the workshops, the worship moments, the late‑night conversations, or just the chance to feel held by community, you’ll find something that speaks to your soul. If you’ve never attended before, this might be the year to take that step — to show up, to be seen, and to experience the joy of belonging in person. We look forward to welcoming you there.
With gratitude and hope, Floyd
