Kampmeeting Talent Show

Featuring
The Music of the 1970s!

“Good times, these are the good times” was a popular song performed by the group Chic. Kinship members come join us as we celebrate the good times at this year’s talent show, on Saturday, July 19. We will be celebrating music from the entire decade of the 70s during this evening. The 70s brought us great disco, funk, rock and other music. We are asking you all to practice your best songs from this era and come prepared to perform them at Kampmeeting. Be the fabulous Gloria Gaynor, the beautiful Donna Summer. Put together some group acts with your Kinship friends and be the soulful Pointer Sisters or Sister Sledge. Sing some funk from groups like Kool & the Gang, or KC & the Sunshine Band. Even if you’re not performing we would still like for you to dress up with outfits from that event. So dig out your leisure suits, bell bottoms, platform shoes and all the other outfits you have from that era and wear them proudly for our talent show!

We want to make this closing event fun and entertaining for all, but want everyone to keep in mind that we will be celebrating our Family & Friends Day on Saturday and want to make sure that all performances are family-friendly. Please be mindful of this when you are considering what to perform. No acts that have sexually suggestive lyrics/motions or references to drugs/alcohol will be permitted. We want to do the best we can to make sure that all our performance wow our audience and not offend them.

So start your planning for this event and break out those fabulous 70s outfits and come one come all to the DC area to relive the 70s Kinship style. Remember, Thelma Houston, sang “Don’t leave me this way”, and we will too, if you don’t plan on performing or dressing up 70s style for this event! For more information, suggestions on what to perform or questions please feel free to email me at: kampmeeting@sdakinship.org.
