Our hearts hurt...

To our Second Wind Kinship friends,

We wish we had words that could make a difference today.  We don't.  We feel sad at the Prop 8 results.  Really sad.  Our hearts are heavy.  We don't write because we have any wisdom or because we know the right words to say.  We only attempt words because you are on our hearts.

We want to thank you for what you have done for this movement— the sacrifices, the time and the contributions you gave.  We want to tell you how much we ache that this impacts your lives, which means it impacts us all.  We want to say how sorry we are that we live in a culture that doesn't understand, one that judges more than it loves.  We want to say how much we love you.  So much.  We are impressed with you, the examples that you are and the way you keep moving forward.   We want to give witness to the fact that you are  living examples of the kind of relationships that we wish were more prominent even in our heterosexual society— you love each other beautifully. We want to tell you that we are honored to be in community with you.

We love you tons.  And we want you to know that we will re-double our efforts. We are passionate and convicted.  We can't change the results, but we can certainly vow our ongoing support to doing all we can to provide you a loving and safe community while also committing that we will continue the movement.  Last night, Obama's win at least showed that eventually things are overcome... Even if it takes more time than we want.
