San Diego Adventist Forum Presentation
"Proposition 8 and Adventism: Implications, Involvements, Effects?"
The February 14 presenter for the San Diego Adventist Forum presenter will be Gerry Chudleigh, communications director for the Pacific Union. His topic will be "Proposition 8 and Adventism: Implications, Involvements, Effects?" This presentation will be at the Tierra Santa Church, 11260 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego at 3 pm.
He also quotes the church's statement on church-state relations: "Seventh-day Adventists are called to stand for the principle of liberty of conscience for all. In keeping with our love for others, we must be ready to work on behalf of groups whose freedom of conscience is inappropriately impinged by the state. Such work may result in personal and corporte loss. This is the price we must be willing to pay in order to follow our Savior who consistently spoke for the disfavored and dispossessed."
Then follows a list of 16 questions for attendees to think about. In describing the presenter, it says, "During the recent Proposition 8 campaign he advised (sometimes uninvited) not only Pacific Union personnel but the people behind the Adventist websites both for and against Proposition 8."
